The Department of Ophthalmology at KNUH was established in 1948 as an independent department, when ophthalmology was still in its infancy in Korea. Since then, the department has received community support and continuously served the community. The KNUH Department of Ophthalmology is proud to be one of the country’s best eye clinics and has continuously made progress to become the hub for training the region’s top eye specialists. Aside from being the provider of the country’s top quality eye care services, but it is also becoming an emerging center for a wide range of basic and clinical studies.
- The KNUH Department of Ophthalmology aims to achieve the following three objectives:
The department aims to 1) extend its world-class eye care services beyond regional boundaries; 2) become one of the world’s top research centers that can contribute to the advancement of ophthalmology through basic and clinical research; and 3) become a center that can encompass all individual eye clinics in the region and foster top talent.
- The KNUH Department of Ophthalmology is currently facing the slowdown of the healthcare market as a result of the global financial crisis, as well as fierce competition from other hospitals. However, we are going to utilize years of experience and tradition to overcome this crisis and move towards achieving our three objectives.
- On the website of the KNUH Department of Ophthalmology, “Beautiful World! Viewtiful Life!” is our welcome message to show all visiting patients our commitment to building a more beautiful world. On the homepage, we placed “Viewtiful,” a portmanteau of “view” and “beautiful,” which means that to build a beautiful life needs great vision and an ability to appreciate the beauty of the world. The KNUH Department of Ophthalmology will work with you to create a truly bright and beautiful world.
- At the KNUH Department of Ophthalmology, all employees are striving to create a clean and convenient environment for visitors to have a comfortable stay and to treat patients like members of their own family. We are very grateful for your support and trust, and we will appreciate your continued support.
